“No Order Too Small”: Jacaranda Records Partner with Fat Monkey Studios to Offer Small-Run Vinyl Cutting to Independent Artists, Bands & DJs

Fat Monkey Studios Launches UK Facility at Jacaranda Baltic for Affordable Small-Run Vinyl

Today, Jacaranda Records has announced a new collaboration with Fat Monkey Studios that will allow artists and bands to walk into the Jacaranda Baltic facility and cut small runs of vinyl at an affordable price.

Fat Monkey Studios will offer vinyl runs from a single record up to 50 copies, available in 7”, 10” and 12” formats. Once their order is ready artists will be able to head to Liverpool's Baltic Triangle, walk into Fat Monkey Studios and leave with a small batch of records ready to sell to fans. And ideally, many will also be putting a few copies of their records directly into the racks at Jacaranda Records to sell on their way out.

Freddie Barker, Chief Ape of Fat Monkey Studios, said:

“ I encourage bands, singer-songwriters and DJs to come in and see the process for themselves. I have a very open-door policy. Artists record in studios but rarely see what happens at the cutting stage. We want to change that. There’s no order too small for”

Fat Monkey Studios is based within the Jacaranda Baltic facility, which also houses the UK’s largest album launch venue and one of the two Jacaranda Records stores. The space theoretically allows artists to cut vinyl, sell records and even launch an album with a live show, all under one roof.

Fat Monkey Studios adds a new arm to the Jacaranda Baltic facility, there is currently no facility like this in the UK offering artists a closed-loop process from cutting vinyl to selling it in-store.

The collaboration was formed between Graham Stanley, Director of Jacaranda Records, and Freddie Barker, who describes himself as the Chief Ape of Fat Monkey Studios.

Graham Stanley, Director of Jacaranda Records, said:

“The beauty of this partnership is that we can put artists’ releases on our website for pre-order and cut the exact number of records sold. It removes the risk for artists who simply can’t afford to commit to large vinyl pressings.”

Jacaranda Records will make use of Fat Monkey Studios for its Jac Cuts project, an initiative where Jacaranda works with artists to create unique releases and special editions of existing records. The first release will be announced next week and will be exclusive to Jacaranda Records Record Store Day customers.
